Getting the most out of ProCite - Aim of the course

ProCite is one of the world's most popular software packages for handling literature references, producing bibliographies and subject bibliographies, cataloguing and creating book lists. This full day Training Course is aimed at researchers, authors, librarians and information scientists who are using (or considering using) this powerful software to search for literature references on Internet databases; catalogue, manage and group references; and produce general and subject bibliographies. It will help you discover how to get the most out of ProCite software and simplify the laborious task of finding, downloading, cataloguing and formatting citations.

During the day you will learn about:

ProCite’s Database and Record Structure
Searching ProCite databases
Searching online databases like PubMed via ProCite
Direct Import into ProCite’s databases from sources like the Web of Science
Importing references via text files from on-line databases
Working with Microsoft Word to produce bibliographies ‘Cite While You Write’
Generating Subject Bibliographies
Working with ProCite’s Lists
Working with ‘Groups’
Working with Workforms (Reference Templates)
Editing of Output Styles
General Hints, Tips and Shortcuts

Trainer Profile:

Tracy Kent

Having a background in academic librarianship, Tracy flourishes when supporting users in getting to grips with reference software packages. She is able to bring a research perspective to the training which ensures that everyone who attends is able to see the "added value" the software would bring to their work. Tracy has a real passion for the software which comes through in the way the training is delivered. She has a particular soft spot for ProCite.
