What's new in MapleSim 4
MapleSim 4, the latest release of the high performance physical modelling and simulation tool, offers a new 3-D construction feature which greatly helps you to develop multibody models. In addition, flexible probe management tools, a new solver, new components and an enhanced work environment mean that MapleSim users can develop complex models faster.
3-D Construction
MapleSim 4 lets you see multibody models come together right before your eyes. As you build your model diagram, a 3-D rendering is created dynamically, so you get instant and realistic feedback for the multibody portions of your model. You can adjust angles and parameters directly from the 3-D model and see the results immediately. You can also add multibody elements directly to the 3-D view and the corresponding block will be added to your model diagram automatically. Flexible Probe Management Tools
New probe management tools give you greater flexibility in organising your probes and examining variables.
- To Add new probes to your diagram and apply them to stored simulation results. This means you can view the behaviour of previously unprobed variables without having to rerun the simulation.
- Easily see where all the probes are located in your diagram, including probes in subsystems.
- Disable probes from a central location, without having to navigate to the probe location in the diagram.
New Solver and Components
MapleSim 4 lets you model more complex models in less time with a new solver and expanded component libraries.
New Solver
- The new semi-stiff solver (Cash-Karp method) provides a better integrator for stiff systems than rkf45 without the overhead formulation costs of a true stiff solver.
- The new ck45 solver is now used by default for all simulations. Other solvers can be easily chosen from a drop-down list.
New Components
- The Electrical Machines library now includes new components for stepper motors, which are useful in mechanism control applications.
- New vector operation components in the Signal Blocks library greatly simplify working with multiple signals in parallel.
Enhanced Work Environment
The enhanced MapleSim work environment includes new tools for creating your models and managing your results.
- In addition to including the new probe management tools, the Project Manager automatically organises your attachments and shared subsystems.
- Subsystems can now be designated as shared or stand-alone, so you can control which subsystems are available for reuse.
- A new diagnostics panel identifies potential problems with your model, such as dangling connections or subsystems that appear structurally identical but are not shared and provides easy ways to repair these problems.
- Enhanced document templates provide improved usability and greater access to analysis tools. Improvements include:
- Model equations can be saved and loaded into a new template without the need to recalculate.
- Variable and parameter managers let you assign your own names to system-generated variables.
- The new template for multibody equations lets you easily extract mass matrices, force vectors, constraints and other values.
