Maple

Advanced Engineering Mathematics with Maple™ is the definitive reference software and textbook for engineering mathematics. The only fully electronic book of its kind on this popular subject, it is an essential resource for every engineering professional or student. The author, Dr. Robert J. Lopez, is a renowned professor and Maple expert, who has pioneered the instructional use of Maple for general and engineering mathematics.

This comprehensive text covers all major areas of engineering mathematics. As an interactive electronic book, the reader can interact with the mathematics and graphs in the book, exploring parameters, running what-if scenarios, and modifying examples to solve specific problems.

Features

  • Includes 9 major subject areas, 48 Chapters, 273 section topics. For the complete list, see the Table of Contents.
  • Content consists of a series of Maple documents, resulting in modifiable examples and interactive graphs throughout.
  • Logical arrangement of topics with many short self-contained sections for easy, direct access from the Table of Contents via hyperlinks.
  • Concepts are stated and explained clearly and up front, rather than after the mechanical calculation techniques are introduced, resulting in quicker comprehension of the important ideas.
  • Many real-world applications of interest to engineers selected from a wide spectrum of physical and mathematical disciplines.
  • More than 7000 exercises, including section exercises and chapter review questions. Answers are provided to selected exercises.
  • Available instructor and student solution manuals.

Audience

For Professionals:
Advanced Engineering Mathematics with Maple provides a handy, easy-to-use reference text. Its logical topic breakdown allows you to focus on concepts of interest, and the examples can easily be modified to help you solve similar problems. With its clear exposition, it also serves as a topic refresher for subject areas you use infrequently.

For Students:
Advanced Engineering Mathematics with Maple is the essential companion for all your mathematics courses, including ODEs, PDEs, Vector Calculus, Matrix Algebra, Complex Variables, Numerical Methods and Calculus of Variations. With its explanations, modifiable examples, and exercises, this single book helps you learn and solve problems faster, and it can continue to serve as a reference once the courses are over. A Solution Manual that contains full solutions to many exercises in the book is available.

Click here to learn more about the Solution Manual.

For Instructors:
This book was created for and used in the author’s classes, so its materials have been class-tested at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology; it is suitable for use in the classroom. An instructor manual with solutions to all exercises is available. For details on adopting this textbook, contact Adept Scientific.

Product Reviews

"Without the Maple software, we would have to spend weeks generating the equations of motion for every experiment. Then the chances that we did it right would basically be near zero. There would always be a mistake somewhere. It is very difficult to set up a dynamic motion model by hand."
- Jean-Claude PiedBeouf, Ph.D Manager of Robotics, Canadian Space Agency

"Its very good - highly accurate and easy to use. The speed of Maple allows me to change equations and quickly reintegrate them into the application, so more possibilities can be explored to achieve the precise effect desired."
Shawn Neely, Senior R & D Director for PDI/Dreamworks
