Maple

developed by Steve Dugaro (CECM) and Konrad Polthier (TU-Berlin)

JavaViewLib provides a superior viewing environment to enhance plots in Maple. It adds many new features to plots' interactivity, such as mouse-controlled scaling, translation, and auto-view modes. JavaViewLib implements arc-ball rotation, making object viewing smoother and less directionally constrained than in Maple. Furthermore, JavaViewLib offers a point modeling feature that allows plots to be manually manipulated.

These features operate not only in Maple worksheets but also in HTML exports! Below is a demonstration you can try right on this web page.

Download the JavaViewLib Maple package (includes Maple worksheet demonstrating loading and usage)

Rotate this plot with the mouse!
Hold down the letter 's' and drag the mouse to scale the plot
Hold down the letter 't' and drag the mouse to translate the plot
Hit 'r' to reset the plot
Right-click on the plot for numerous other options

However, the predominant feature of the JavaviewLib is the capacity to export Maple-generated models into one of two applet based viewers - one optimized for speed, the other for customizability. No longer do plots need to be converted to static images when creating html pages from Maple worksheets. One can also export plot data to a variety of other formats such as VMRL or JavaViewLib's own XML format in which data can be viewed as a markup tree or further developed. With JavaviewLib, models created in other modeling applications such as Maya and Mathematica can easily be imported into Maple's viewing environment.

Product Reviews

"Without the Maple software, we would have to spend weeks generating the equations of motion for every experiment. Then the chances that we did it right would basically be near zero. There would always be a mistake somewhere. It is very difficult to set up a dynamic motion model by hand."
- Jean-Claude PiedBeouf, Ph.D Manager of Robotics, Canadian Space Agency

"Its very good - highly accurate and easy to use. The speed of Maple allows me to change equations and quickly reintegrate them into the application, so more possibilities can be explored to achieve the precise effect desired."
Shawn Neely, Senior R & D Director for PDI/Dreamworks
